Construction Permit Checklist
  • Did you complete all applicable portions of the Construction Permit Application (CPA) form?
  • Did you sign the inside of the CPA jacket as the "owner" or as the "agent" for the owner?

  • Did you include the building, plumbing, electrical and fire subcode technical sections?

  • Are the plumbing and electrical technical sections sealed by the licensed contractors?

  • If there is a need for temporary electrical service, did you include the appropriate information on the electrical section?

  • Do you have a site plan, professionally signed and sealed, showing the size and location of all new and existing construction on the site with distances from lot lines and indicating new services?

  • Do you have at least two sets of construction plans drawn to scale, with sufficient clarity and detailed dimensions to show the nature and character of the work to be performed?

  • Is every sheet of the submitted plans signed and sealed by a New Jersey registered architect? Exception: Homeowners who prepare their own drawings.

  • Does the information of the technical subcode sections coincide with the construction plans?

  • Are prior approvals and/or fees applicable, and if so, are they in order
  • Zoning
  • Municipal Engineering
  • Soil Conservation
  • Taxes, escrows, bonds, etc.
  • Planning Board
  • Health Department
  • DEPE, DOT, etc.
  • Are street signs in place and is the building site marked with block/lot identification?
  • Is the building site accessible to inspectors vehicles and other emergency services personnel?

  • Are sanitary sewers operational and potable water available on-site? If not, are temporary provisions made for service?
